T he exterior of the 'Overlook Hotel' is the Timberline Lodge , Mount Hood in the Hood River area of Northern Oregon. One of my "Wander List" Items that I am proud to check off is coming to Portland Oregon. The idea of all those explorers making it “out west” and crossing the vastness of the continent to “see what is out there” has always been appealing. Perhaps because I am the child of immigrants. I am an immigrant. The image of all those people taking the chance and picking up all that they could to make it “all the way” to Portland… Leaving everything behind and carving a life in a new place. Life is not a Dressed Rehearsal

"Life is not a Dressed Rehearsal " Life may not be a dressed rehearsal, but it helps to have rehearsals before weddings, big presentations, interviews, dating, and life changing road trips... Yesterday I had a "packing the car" dressed rehearsal. I am packing up my entire household so I have plenty of empty containers of the same size and shape. I took the empty versions of the containers and packed the car. Tested the windows and sunroof mosquito net contraptions too. This is the list of items: Goal Zero Yeti 150 power bank Clothing container - I need clothing for both winter and warmer climate. Misc equipment container - lamps, batteries, toiletries, charges, coloring pens, books, pepper spray, etc Carry-on suitcases - half way through the trip I am flying out to Mexico for a wedding so I need "wedding-going-clothing". I put the warm climate clothing items in the suitcase for storage until I switch them. Yes, I am a girly girl woman. Two...

South Dakota, the Black Hills, Wyoming and a Sad Anniversary After spending my first night at a Cracker Barrel parking lot in Sioux City I had a nice breakfast and (wisely) decided to find me a heavier coat. I underestimated the cold during the “fall” season up here. I am glad I went with my gut feeling. On the way west I stumble onto the Louis and Clark expedition welcome center and had a date with Dignity! She is beautiful! I made it to the Badlands National Park! It was a bit cloudy and rainy but it the park was as beautiful as I ever picture it!! Someday I may come back and spend a couple of days exploring! The silence! Ideas Are The Beginning Points of All Fortunes

The idea of a road trip all around the US of A has been rattling in the back of my head since I was a little girl playing at my dad's old camper. I loved sleeping in there, even though it was just parked outside the house in a broken pick up truck. I made the decision to take this trip while attending the " Chesapeake Bay Balloon and Wine Festival " at Talbot county Maryland. Wine DOES make anything look better ;) I am going to count this festival as my day 1 - I was accompanied by my friends Kim and Veronika and I had the pleasure of meeting my new friend Shari . Women are at their best when we support and encourage each other and that day I was encouraged and empowered to fallow my dream - whatever shape it would take... So on Saturday August, 4, the seed that was planted and generously hydrated with wine started to germinate... I discovered that Google Maps has a "My Maps" section where I can ...(hold for it)... Create my OWN MAP...
